    The aim of this project is to discuss theoretically the protections provided for transmission lines and perform tests on some protective numerical relays to verify their good performance. A protection system designed to function selectively and efficiently is playing a key role for the safe operation of the electrical power system. All its various elements are today relevant for power generation, transmission, distribution and industrial applications. Numerical relays are the most important element of this system.
