    Design and analysis of S-shaped microstrip antenna

    This project aimed at studying and designing S-shaped microtrip patch antenna operating at3GHz which is suitable for Radar application. With a view to be familiar with microstrip antennas,this work is started by designing rectangular microstrip patch antenna working at 3GHz.Later,the rectangular shape is modified toS-shaped antenna and it is found that itcould be multiband antenna operating at 1.73GHz(convenientfor GSM application),3GHz(the desired radar frequency) and 4.23 GHz after small adjustments in the antenna dimensions and feed position.The ob- tained results show that the S-shaped antenna can operate at1.73GHz with size reduction of the structure ofabout 68%. Both rectangular and S-shaped microstrip patch antennas are designed using transmission line model and coaxial probe feed ,the simulation is done by IE3D Software. Finally,S-shaped microstrip antenna is fabricated and tested .A good simulation and measurement results are achieved.
