Nonlinear Control Algorithms Applications for Quadrotor
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc, 2023) Bourouis, Imane Belquis; Boushaki, Razika; Larit, Islem Mohamed; Zerroug, Khalil; Aribi, Yacine; Kouzou, Abdellah
In this article, we present a detailed mathematical model for a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) known as a quadrotor. The nonlinear dynamic model has been derived using Newton's and Euler's laws. Three control approaches were developed to control the altitude, attitude, heading and position of the quadrotor in space. The first approach is based on a linear Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller. The second developed controller is Backstepping while the third one is a Gain Scheduling control. The Genetic Algorithm technique has been used to get an optimal tuning for the fore mentioned controllers (gains and parameters) and, hence, improving the dynamic response. Simulation based experiments were conducted using MATLAB to evaluate and compare between the three developed control techniques in terms of dynamic performance, stability and possible disturbances effect.

Turbofan Engine RUL Prediction using ICA and Machine Learning Algorithms
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc, 2023) Aribi, Yacine; Boutora, Saliha; Boushaki Zamoum, Pr. Razika; Menasria, Hafid; Abdellaoui, Abdelkader; Kouzou, Pr. Abdellah
This paper takes an approach to the determination on the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) on a real-life turbo engine model selected from a set of data provided within the public domain for research purposes from the Prognostics Data Repository of NASA. The RUL analysis algorithm uses Independent Component Analysis for data dimensionality reduction and data processing simplicity due to the large number of involved sensors, then a model is trained to predict the remaining useful life for the turbo engine using Random Forest (RF) and Gradient Boosted Machine Algorithms (GBMA). The final RUL data is compared to the real RUL vs. time provided within the original data date for algorithm validation.

Remaining Useful Life Prediction in Turbofan Engines: PCA and Machine Learing Approach
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc, 2023) Boutora, Saliha; Aribi, Yacine; Boushaki Zamoum, Pr. Razika; Kouzou, Pr. Abdellah; Menasria, Hafid; Abdellaoui, Abdelkader
In this paper, a study of prediction of the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of an aircraft's turbofan engine is explored by analyzing a data set of a real-life turbofan engine from the Prognostics Data Repository of NASA and using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for data reduction and preprocessing, then selecting machine learning algorithms, mainly the Random Forest (RF) and Gradient Boosted Machine (GBM) so that a model can be trained to predict the possible failures through developing a model to estimate the RUL of the functionality of the turbofan engine

A Novel approach for active surge control in multistage centrifugal compressor
(World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society, 2023) Aribi, Yacine; Boushaki, Razika Zammoum
Compressors are used in the hydrocarbon industry from upstream to downstream to boost the pressure required to transport gas into processing and transportation pipelines inside and toward processing facilities. Turbo-centrifugal compressors are subject to repetitive damages resulting from the manifestation phenomenon known as surge, observed as fluid flow reversal at low mass flows. Active surge control aims to increase the compressor operating region by allowing the compressor to operate at low mass flow in the naturally-unstable region of the compressor. Surge is avoided in the industry by forcing the operating point to the stable region of the compressor curve. Active surge control aims to control the surge phenomenon by extending the stable operating region. This work developed a novel model-based control approach for effective compression system active surge control on an automatic coupled recycle valve as a primary actuator. The feedback linearization technique is used to reduce the system complexity by providing a linear representation of the highly nonlinear system. A detailed description of the feedback linearization method for centrifugal compressors and a dual controller design was developed in this paper

This paper presents the modeling of a four rotor type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) called the quadrotor and three techniques to control its altitude, attitude, heading and position. The dynamic model of the quadrotor is nonlinear and has been derived using Newton's and Euler's laws. The first approach is designed using a linear Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control technique. The second approach is based on a nonlinear Back-stepping controller while the third one is a gain Gain-Scheduling based PID controller. The Genetic Algorithm technique has been used to get an optimal tuning for the gains and parameters of the three mentioned controllers. MATLAB/Simulink software was used to evaluate and compare the three designed control approaches in terms of the stability, the effect of possible disturbances and the dynamic performance

(IEEE, 2019) Zammoum Boushaki, Razika; Aribi, Yacine; Loubar, Hocine; Hamza, Younes; Kouzou, Abdellah
Since the advances in technologies and the ability to manufacture miniature sensors and controllers using the Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technologies, there have been a lot of advances in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) area. A lot of the research conducted focused on the quadrotor due to its previously mentioned advantages of easier manufacturing, compactness and maneuverability among others. a detailed description of the dynamic modelling of the Quadrotor is presented. Various control strategies like the Proportional Derivative Control, the Sliding Mode Control and the Backstepping Control methods have been elucidated and implemented in MATLAB and SIMULINK. Simulations have been carried out and the results have been presented

Active surge control of the recycle compression system by hybrid adaptive controller
(IEEE, 2019) Aribi, Yacine; Zammoum Boushaki, Razika; Loubar, Hocine
Centrifugal compressors are a Type of widely used compression systems for industrial gases. Practically, centrifugal and axial compressors often suffer huge and irreversible damages due to a major non-stability feature widely known as surge. In this paper, a control strategy is proposed in order to avoid falling into surge and to recover the system from deep surge state. An auto-tuned, PID-Based, model free approach based on Multi-stage Fuzzy Inference system is used to provide a real-time tuning for PID parameters in order to achieve optimal control for the Compression system’s recycle valve. The proposed control solution comes to prevent the system from falling into surge and shows promising results while recovering the system back into stability and maintaining stable operating point. Furthermore, a stable and robust, model free control, has been achieved for deep surge control
