Item Solar thermal power plants – A review of configurations and performance comparison(Elsevier, 2018) Behar, OmarA detailed review and thermal performance comparison of fifteen power generation technologies including fossil, solar and hybrid options has been presented. The modeling of each part of the power plants has been carried out. For the solar field, a detailed modeling that comprises the heat transfer in the receiver tube, optics of the collector and the heat losses from the piping, has been carried out . In order to develop mathematical models for the fifteen power plants, the gas turbine and the steam turbine have been modeled and results were successively validated. Various integration of solar parabolic trough technology into the three reference Power Conversion Cycles (PCSs) including Brayton cycle, Rankine cycle and combined cycle have been considered. Six performance indicators have been used to rank the configurations. Some of these configurations are originally proposed in the present study and important findings are highlighted.Item Performance assessment of an integrated solar combined cycle in the southern of Algeria(Elsevier, 2017) Lazhar, Achour; Bouharkat, Malek; Behar, OmarItem Hybrid" Solar–Fossil fuels" thermal power plants to reduce climate change effects: Case study on the performance of Solar Power Plant SPP1 of Hassi R’Mel, Algeria(2012) Behar, Omar; Khellaf, Abdallah; Mohammedi, KamalItem Scaling up solar hybrid gas turbine electric power system : simulation and results(2012) Behar, Omar; Khellaf, Abdallah; Mohamedi, KamalScaling up Concentrating Solar Power(CSP)to larger power block sizesis an essential step to reduce unit investment cost, O&M costs, and increases performance. In the present paper a larger solar hybrid gas turbineof 50 MWis investigated wherebyannualperformances of different parts are estimated using a mathematical programimplanted in Visual Fortran 6.0. The selected location for the study is Hassi R’mel where the first solar power plant in Algeria has been built. The simulationresults show that thesolarhybrid gas turbineefficiency of up to 32% is possible, amongst the highest conversion efficiencies for the hybrid system. However, solar electricity ratioup to 85% are feasible; this leads to significant reductions in fuel consumptionof 2000 T/ year. This is the key motivation to follow this concept, although the technical integration of the receiver into the gasturbine is rather complexItem Comparison of solar radiation models(2014) Behar, Omar; Khellaf, A.; Mohammedi, K.; Ait Kaci, S.Item Smart model for accurate estimation of solar radiation(Springer, 2017) Achour, Lazhar; Bouharkat, Malek; Assas, Ouarda; Behar, OmarItem A novel hybrid solar preheating gas turbine(Elsevier, 2017) Behar, OmarItem Hybrid model for estimating monthly global solar radiation for the Southern of Algeria : (Case study : Tamanrasset, Algeria)(Elsevier, 2017) Achour, Lazhar; Bouharkat, Malek; Assas, Ouarda; Behar, OmarItem Assessment of solar thermal tower technology under Algerian climate(Elsevier, 2017) Yamani, Noureddine; Khellaf, Abdallah; Mohammedi, Kamal; Behar, OmarItem Prediction of the annual performance and perspective of Hassi R’Mel solar power plant SPP1(2012) Behar, Omar; Khellaf, Abdallah; Mohammedi, Kamal
