Item Insecticidal and Histological Effects of Extracts from Leaves of Juglans regia L. Against Sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Isolated from Soft Wheat in Post-harvest(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2025) Bennacer, Amel; Sahir-Halouane, Fatma; Smaili, Oussama; Oukali, Zahia; Mouhouche, Faiza; Bennacer, Nour El Houda; Chaib, Ratiba; Kumar, Ramar MuhanIn Algeria, the cultivation of soft wheat (Triticum aestivum Linn.) plays a crucial role in the food chain. However, the crop faces a threat from Sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), which causes substantial economic losses. This study aims to discover novel bioactive compounds derived from Juglans regia Linn., a walnut tree grown in Algeria, to combat S. oryzae. This study focuses on extraction, phytochemical characterization, insecticidal effect against S. oryzae adults, and histological impact. GCMS analysis of the petroleum ether (EPJ) and chloroform (CHJ) fractions indicated the presence of a diverse range of bioactive molecules, including myrtenal (1.17%), eugenol (46.17%), methyl ester (25.84%), lycophyll (5.16%), and hexadecane (1.22%), which are derived from terpenoids, phenols, and fatty acids. LCMS/MS analysis of the ethyl acetate (AEJ) and butanolic (BTJ) fractions identified compounds mainly associated with hydrocinnamic acids, flavonols, flavones, and naphtoquinones, such as 3-caffeoylquinic acid, epi-catechin isomer, kaempferol-3-glucoside, and hydro-juglone derivative. Furthermore, the efficacy of the five extracts (hydromethanolic extract and the four fractions) against S. oryzae adults was evaluated at 625, 315, and 75 µg/mL concentrations over 7 days. EPJ and BTJ demonstrated the highest effectiveness among these extracts, as indicated by their relatively low LC50, LC90, LT50, and LT90 values. These results highlight the potential of EPJ and BTJ, derived from walnut leaves, as biocontrol agents against S. oryzae. Histological analysis of the treated insects revealed significant alterations in various tissues compared to untreated adults. This research gives the first evidence that J. regia grown in Algeria is a promising biocontrol agent against pest beetles in stored soft wheat.Item A miniaturized quad band hexagon patch antenna for GSM1800, C band and WiMAX applications(2022) Mouhouche, Faiza; Djaf, Kahina; Dehmas, Mokrane; Chibane, Kahina; Ksentini, SafaIn this article, a miniaturized patch antenna using fractal DGS and SRR DMS for GSM1800, C band and WiMAX applications is presented and investigated. Antenna miniaturization and multiband are accomplished by employing a fractal loop on the DGS structure and a split ring resonator slot in the patch. The proposed radiator has a hexagonal shape that operates at 6.8 GHz. To achieve downsize of 20.58, 38.22, 55.14 and 72.75% an antenna is designed using DGS and DMS structures for quad-band application appearing at 1.85, 3.05, 4.2, and 5.4 GHz. Simulated and tested data are investigated. The prototype antenna has adequate advantages, with a simple structure, compact size, multiband, and uniform radiation patterns.Item A compact double-inverted Ω-shaped dual-band patch antenna for WLAN/WiMAX applications(Frequenz : journal of RF-engineering and telecommunications, 2022) Djafri, Kahina; Mouhouche, Faiza; Dehmas, Mokrane; Challal, MouloudIn this study, a new compact dual-band antenna with overall size of 11 × 14.46 × 1.6 mm3 has been designed, fabricated and tested. The proposed antenna consists of two inverted Ω-shaped strips loaded with two different comb structures. The fist comb of six elements connected to the first Ω-shaped radiating branch is used to decrease the second band lower cut-off frequency and cover the intended WLAN and WiMAX applications. In order to cover the 2.45 GHz WLAN band and further reduce the antenna dimensions, a second comb structure of 14 elements is attached to the upper radiating branch. The fabricated antenna covers the frequency bands from 2.42 to 2.6 GHz and from 4.25 to 6.77 GHz with a reflection coefficient of |S 11| ≤ −10 dB. The antenna shows an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H-plane and a monopole-like radiation pattern in the E-plane. The developed structure achieves UWB performance as well as a compact size of 20 × 26 × 1.62 mm3. Furthermore, to avoid interferences with WiMAX and satellite communication systems, dual notched band is obtained by engraving two co‐directional triangular split ring defects on the radiating element. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth extending from 3.05 to 20 GHz with dual notched bands at [5.15‐5.68 GHz], and [7.15‐7.65 GHz] used in WiMAX and satellite communication, respectively. The proposed design realizes omnidirectional radiation pattern in H‐plane, and a dipole‐like pattern in E‐plane. The antenna exhibits an acceptable gain in the whole UWB range except at notched bands.
