Item Predictive modelling and optimisation of surface roughness in turning of AISI 1050 steel using polynomial regression(2020) Harhout, Riad; Gaceb, Mohamed; Haddad, Sofiane; Aguib, Salah; Bloul, Benattia; Guebli, AdelhamidAn investigation has been conducted to address the surface integrity optimisation and prediction issue by applying the polynomial regression method for a variety of experiments and cutting conditions. A higher correlation coefficient (R²) was obtained with a cubic regression model, which had a value of0.9480 for Ra. The use of the response surface optimisation and composite desirability show that the optimal set of machining parameters values are (250m/min, 0.2398 mm/rev and 2.3383 mm) for cutting speed, feed and depth of cut, respectively. The optimised surface roughness parameter and productivity are Ra =2.7567 μm and Q = 95.341*103 mm3/ min, respectively. Results show that the models developed can accurately predict the roughness on the basis of measured cutting conditions as input parameters, and can also be used to control the surface roughness by making a comparison between measured and estimated values. Furthermore, operators can benefit from the proposed models if the aim is the reverse determination of the cutting conditions corresponding to the requested roughness profileItem Hardware and software load power control in smart home applications based on Taguchi optimisation technique(Inderscience, 2018) Azzougui, Yasmina; Recioui, AbdelmadjidPower control is one of the concerns in smart grid implementation. The balance between the supplied power and the demand must be maintained so that blackouts are avoided. Smart metres play an important role in establishing this balance. On the other hand, power control implementation is a challenge as one would have to find the right mix between the hardware and the software parts. The purpose of this work is to optimise and implement a small power control system of home appliances. The objective of the optimisation is to reschedule some tasks if the power demand exceeds a certain peak level. The optimisation is based on Taguchi method which is known of its robustness and relatively fast convergence. The system casts a real life situation and can be considered as a small-scale prototype that can be extended to larger systemsItem Application of the moth flame optimisation to the selective harmonic elimination in multilevel converters(Inderscience, 2018) Azzougui, Yasmina; Recioui, AbdelmadjidHarmonics constitute one of the power quality headaches that need to be dealt with seriously in the modern power grids. Particularly, the integration of renewable energy systems has brought with it more harmonic pollution due to the need of power electronic switching devices. In this work, it is attempted to employ one of the proliferating optimisation techniques to solve the selective harmonic elimination problem in conjunction with a reduction of the overall system total harmonic distortion (THD). The moth flame optimisation technique is found very capable of handling such a problem and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method and the applicability of the designed switching systemItem H-RADIX a new heuristic for a single constant multiplication(Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2017) Khiter, Belkacem; Oudjida, Abdelkrim Kamel; Belhocine, MahmoudItem New structural approach for bond graph to digraph conversion : a sensor placement optimisation for fault detection and isolation(IDOSI Publications, 2013) Alem, Said; Benazzouz, DjamelItem Optimization of preventive repair in a dynamic system of machines(2009) Benmounah, A.; Hachemi, T.The determination of the number of preventive repair to make in a park of machines in a given period, in the majority of practical cases, is based on the knowledge of essential parameters obtained from the statistics such as: 1) Mean life duration of the equipment 2) Mean functioning duration until the first failure 3) Mean functioning duration between the failures 4) renewing intensity of the pa k of machines. However theses values cannot be taken as credible base data to be able to optimise the number of repair of machines in a dynamic exploitation system of a park of machines and obtain the wanted number of machines at the end of the planned period. The cited 4 parameters depend on 2 principal factors: • Evolution and importance of the park of machines (variable in time) • Exploitation methods in the park (repair quality and used means). The renewing intensity of the park of machines is a function of the demand and degradation intensity of machines. From another side, the repair duration depend on the functioning periodicity cited here, on their nature and their costs. These last influence, in a significant manner, the calculus results. It is then primordial to look for the solution of the problem by introducing the notion of parameters optimum values. In this paper is given a new approach of the problem, which studies the dependence of the cited parameters, of the exploitation time and of the importance of the park of machines always renewed. This has for effect to act directly on the costs due to this dependence that is: • The renewing costs (purchase of new machines and new repair means); • The exploitation and repair costs. This method permits to obtain optimal values: • Of the number of repairs; • Of the number of machines to purchase in the planned period; • Of the exploitation duration of every machineItem Modification des performances des bitumes par incorporation d'un déchet ozonisé à base d'éthylène vinyl-acétate = Improvement of the performance of bitumen by addition of ozonized ethylene vinyl-acetate waste(2007) Benrachedi, K.; Fahimi, A.; Fargere, T.; Delmas, M.; Gaset, A.; Pietrasanta, Y.; Boutevin, B.Cette étude a pour objectif l'amélioration des performances d'un bitume par incorporation d'un déchet de polymère recyclé. Les résultats expérimentaux obtenus montrent que le bitume modifié a une bonne pénétrabilité ainsi qu'une température de ramollissement relativement élevéeItem Analysis of the self-excited induction generator steady state performance using a new efficient algorithm(Elsevier, 2012) Kheldoun, Aissa; Refoufi, Larbi; Khodja, Djalal EddineThe paper presents the application of DIRECT algorithm to analyse the performance of the Self-excited induction generator (SEIG). To the author best knowledge, this is the first attempt to apply it to such a problem. DIRECT algorithm is used to minimize the induction generator’s admittance without the need to separate it into its real and imaginary parts. No initial guess is required as it needs only the upper and lower values of the unknown variables which are easily determined. The obtained minimum admittance yields the adequate magnetizing reactance and the frequency. These two key parameters are then used to compute the self-excitation process requirements in terms of the prime mover speed, the capacitance and the load impedance on the one hand and to predict the generator steady state performance parameters on the other. Very good agreement between predicted results and experimental measurements is achieved
