Abstract
This annual course deals with the comparative study of languages with respect to
Contrastive Linguistics. The methodological aspects and the areas of research will be
illustrated with examples mainly from English and Arabic. It explains similarities and
differences between languages; In addition, it gives Master 1 students an idea about how
errors made by second language learners can be predicted. The course also raises issues
related to cross-cultural interaction between English and Arabic. Thus, lexical,
grammatical, and stylistic issues are covered as well as cultural ones.........
