Power Quality in Smart Systems: IoT and Microcontroller-Based Voltage Variation Classification

Abstract

Smart metering systems significantly improve energy management by delivering real-time data on power quality. This study investigates the use of icrocontrollers for detecting power quality disturbances through voltage RMS variation. The microcontroller executes a classification algorithm to identify power quality issues such as sags, swells, and interruptions. In the event of abnormal conditions, classification results are sent to an IoT application and Gmail, enabling timely notifications. This integrated approach can be utilized in smart meters, enhancing their capability to monitor and manage power quality effectively
