Item Control of a Solar PV/wind Hybrid Energy System(Elsevier, 2016) Chaib, Ahmed; Achour, Djalloul; Kesraoui, MohamedA serious disadvantage of coupling a solar PV and wind energies of a hybrid system into the main DC bus is the compatibility of the voltage. In fact the PV system response is faster than the wind system one. This can affect negatively on the whole hybrid system response especially in case of variable loads switching. In this paper a hybrid energy system consisting of two sources: wind turbine generator and photovoltaic solar, without energy storage is modeled and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Management of the obtained power is achieved through two adaptor switches in the DC output of both sources. Each subsystem switch is controlled in order to supply either a dump load or the consumers’ loads via an inverter. The objective is to obtain an acceptable (compromise) system response and to make it more compatible. A control strategy of those two switches is proposed to adapt the inputs of the sources to the output of the DC bus. Satisfying results have been obtained in terms of voltage response stability, precision and global compatibility achievementItem Energy Management and Control of a Hybrid Water Pumping System with Storage(Pléiades Publishing, 2017) Lazizi, Aldjia; Kesraoui, Mohamed; Achour, Djalloul; Chaib, AhmedThis paper aims to define a control and management strategy for water pumping system which would be powered by a hybrid PV/diesel generator system with battery storage. The particularity of the proposed power management method is to ensure the water volume in need and to maximize the use of PV generator while limiting the use of the diesel generator. In order to capture the maximum power from PV generator, a fuzzy logic maximum power point tracking controller is applied. On the other hand, a PI regulator is used with a boost converter in order to adapt the voltage of the battery bank to the DC bus. The water flow of the pump is also controlled. The developed power management and control strategy has been implemented using SIMPOWER toolbox in Matlab/Simulink. The obtained satisfying simulation results prove the efficiency of the proposed solution that assures continuous supply of water and electricityItem Fuzzy Logic Maximum Power Point Tracking Control for A Solar PV Module(2020) Lazizi, Aldjia; Kesraoui, Mohamed; Chaib, AhmedIn this paper, the fuzzy logic control for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of a solar photovoltaic is presented. A photovoltaic system including a solar module, a DC/DC boost converter, a fuzzy MPP Tracker and a resistive load is modeled and simulated for various atmospheric conditions. The P-V characteristics are first obtained for various values of solar irradiation and temperature. Then the increased efficiency of the photovoltaic system using MPPT is computed and plotted. The fuzzy control method is compared with the Perturb/observe (P&O) method in one hand and with an Improved P&O technique using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) in the other hand.Item Fuzzy logic MPPT control for a solar PV module applied to water pumping(Inder Science Publisher, 2016) Lazizi, Aldjia; Kesraoui, Mohamed; Chaib, AhmedIn this paper, the fuzzy logic control for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of a solar photovoltaic (PV) module in water pumping application is presented. A PV system including a solar module, a DC/DC boost converter, a fuzzy MPP tracker and a resistive load is modelled and simulated for various atmospheric conditions. The P-V and I-V characteristics are first obtained for various values of solar irradiation and temperature. Also, the increased efficiency of the photovoltaic system using MPPT is computed and plotted. The fuzzy control method is compared with the perturb and observe (P&O) method in one hand and with an improved P&O technique using artificial neural network (ANN) in the other. The fuzzy MPP tracker is then applied to the water pumping system composed of a solar panel, DC/DC boost converter, DC/AC inverter, induction motor and centrifugal pumpItem Grid Connected Solar PV System: Modeling, Simulation and Experimental Tests(Elsevier, 2016) Kesraoui, Mohamed; Lazizi, Aldjia; Chaib, AhmedIn this paper a solar PV system is modeled, simulated and experimentally tested. Mathematical and electrical models have first been presented. A theoretical background which introduces the topic has been presented. The system's different components have also been described. Then a simulation work of the current voltage (I-V) characteristics and efficiency by using MATLAB/IMULINK has been performed. Finally a PV system installed in the Institute of energy systems and electrical drives at the Technical University of Vienna has been tested. Many disturbances and cases like blackout, load disconnection and islanded system have been investigated. In this mainly experimental work, three test situations have been performed and the corresponding measurements have been recorded. Results that have been obtained showed that the grid connected PV system responds adequately to all the applied disturbancesItem Grid voltage local regulation by a doubly fed induction generator–based wind turbine(Sage journals, 2017) Kesraoui, Mohamed; Chaib, Ahmed; Bendaoui, Boujemaa; Achour, DjalloulVoltage regulation at point of common coupling using a doubly fed induction generator–based wind energy conversion system is achieved through reactive power control. Wind energy conversion system produces reactive power when the voltage is less than grid nominal voltage and it consumes it in the opposite case. In this article, a method to achieve this goal is proposed. It consists of controlling the reference value of the vector control system in order to affect the wind energy conversion system reactive power output. Two situations have been simulated. Sudden voltage increase and decrease were applied to the control system. Satisfying results have been obtained since the voltage at point of common coupling has been restored back to its initial valueItem Optimum sizing of hybrid sustainable and renewable energy systems using a modified harris hawks optimizer(Elsevier, 2025) Sifou, Djamel Eddine; Kheldoun, Aissa; Chaib, Ahmed; Belmadani, Hamza; Alharbi, Hisham; Alharbi, Saleh S.; Agajie, Takele Ferede; Ghoneim, Sherif S.M.To boost the use of renewable energy sources while maintaining reliability and affordability, Multi-source renewable and sustainable energy systems must be optimally sized. This research introduces a stand-alone metaheuristic algorithm for designing a hybrid sustainable and renewable energy system combining Wind turbine, PV and battery system. The main goal is to lower the overall present-day system's cost at the same time considering the indicator of reliability, which is the loss of power supply probability (LPSP), as a constraint. The developed algorithm resulted from enhancing the recent Harris Hawks Optimizer (HHO). The modified version incorporates a vector that saves the best three solutions and opposition learning to enhance the population diversity and assist the algorithm in jumping out of local optima regions. Three scenarios are presented, the first is modeled by PV/Bat the second one is modeled by WT/Bat while the third one consists of PV/WT/Bat. The studied project is located in Sidi Khattab, Relizane province, Algeria. The results demonstrate that the MHHO outperforms a range of well-known algorithms, among which one can cite the original HHO, Krill Optimization Algorithm (KOA), Red Squirrel Algorithm (RSA), Modified Coati Optimization Algorithm (MCOA), and Generalized Oppositional-based Social Spider Algorithm (GOOSE). Compared to the other algorithms, MHHO demonstrated superior performance in all proposed configuration settingsItem Orientation system of solar panels based on a robot manipulator(2011) Chaib, Ahmed; Acheli, Dalila; Kesraoui, MohamedSolar energy is one of the most interesting renewable energies, as it is an inexhaustible natural accumulation. The electrical energy generated depends on the performance of photovoltaic panels that is based on the direction of sunlight. The position of the sun changes during the day, even during the year, which imposes a system of automatic orientation of solar panels for this purpose, several devices have been proposed and marketed. In our article, we focus on the adaptation of a robot manipulator for orientation and positioning of solar panels, applying for the control system, the model of the robot controller. First, we present the robotic system, which is a well-mastered, and his order was the subject of several studies and applications, and the model of the robot used for controlling the system. Finally, we give the simulation results in two modes: Mode fixed facing south with an inclination of 45° and the robot tracking mode following the elevation and azimuth movements with two decoupled movement. The results found show a gain in terms of solar energy collected measured about 51%Item Solar tracking with photovoltaic panel(Elsevier, 2013) Miloudi, Lalia; Acheli, Dalila; Chaib, AhmedItem Using a DFIG-based wind farm for grid node reactive power compensation(Inderscience Enterprises Ltd, 2013) Kesraoui, Mohamed; Chaib, Ahmed; Madri, Abdullah; Hammani, BilalGrid nodes voltages are not allowed to deviate excessively from nominal value. Appropriate measures should be taken to prevent such a deviation. The voltage difference between two nodes is strongly affected by reactive power flow. In contrast to frequency control, node voltage control must be achieved locally. This article investigates the use of a wind farm based on a doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) for reactive power compensation of a grid node. A wind speed variation sample is applied to the model of a wind power unit. The power flow between the stator of the DFIG-based wind power unit and the grid is controlled by using the decoupled active and reactive power vector control method. The limits or capacity of the stator and power converters to consume or provide reactive power are discussed. SIMULINK software has been used for the simulation of the system
