Valorization of mixed metal hydroxide on Algerian Na-Bentonitesuspensions: Application to water-based drilling fluid
    (Elsevier, 2020) Akkouche, A.; Benmounah, A.; Gueciouer, A.; Chalah, K.
The use of mixed metal hydroxide tri-cationic (Li+,Mg+2,Al+3) in water based drilling fluids brought to thebirth of a new air and perspective to improve the using of Bentonitic suspension as viscosifier in drillingfluids. The aim of this work is to study the possibility of using mixed metal hydroxide and see his effect atdifferent percent (5%, 10%, 15% and 20% by Wt of Bentonite) on the rheological behavior and colloidalproperties of Algerian Na-Bentonite suspension (30 kg/m3).Rheological tests and Zeta Potential measurements have been performed for each prepared suspension. The results show that the adding of MMH on Algerian Na-Bentonite increases the yield stress to 1.39 Pasat 20% MMH, however a stable suspension was observed 41 mV of Zeta Potential measurement at 10%MMH with yield stress of 1.17 Pas.

Investigation on improving properties of polypropylene-based nanocomposites by employing Algerian nanoclay
    (Springer link, 2020) Triaki, M.; Benmounah, A.; Zenati, A.
A study was conducted to evaluate the influence of nanoclay on the final properties of polypropylene-based nanocomposites. Polypropylene/nanoclay nanocomposites with a varied content of nanoclayranging from 0 wt% to 11 wt% were prepared using a co-rotating twin screw extruder. The polypropylene-grafted maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA) was used as a compatibilizer to improve the dispersibility of the nanoclay. Properties and characteristics of nanoclay and PP/PP-g-MA/nanoclay nanocomposites were investigated by means of laser diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, ZWICK/ROELL testing machine, capillary rheometer, thermogravimetry/differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy. The results of morphological characterization indicated that the dispersion and the distribution of the charges are the essential characteristics likely to influence the mechanical, rheological, thermal and morphological properties of the nanocomposites. Thus, the results manifested that the incorporation of a small amount of nanoclay had a significant effect on the final properties of nanocomposites

Evaluation of the thixotropy of oil-well cements used for cementing lost circulation zones : effect of plaster and blast furnace slag
    (2010) Bouziani, T.; Makhloufi, Z.; Benmounah, A.; Bédérina, M.
Cementing of oil and gas wells can be a very delicate operation. Among the concerns of service companies, during this operation are the nature and conditions of the formations in well. This is the case of cementing operations in southern Algeria, specifically on the fields of In-Amen, where the formations in lost zones are naturally weak and highly permeable. In these areas, drilling fluids (muds and cements) pumped will be, completely or partially lost, what we call" lost circulation". Thixotropic cements are useful to overcome lost circulation problems. They are characterized by a special rheological behavior, allowing it to plug lost zones when they are pumped

A comparative study of the creep behavior of laminated composites : effect of type of fiber and matrix
(Academic Journals, 2017) Basaid, D.; Aribi, C.; Kari, J.; Benmounah, A.; Safi, Brahim
This paper presents the effect of matrix type on creep behavior at 80% loads of ultimate tensile strength of two laminated composites at different fiber and matrix system. For this, two types of laminated composites were manufactured based on two types of fibers (carbon fabric and glass fabric) with different matrix systems EPOCAST 50-A1 (EP50-A), Epoxy STR (STR) and Epoxy INJ812 (INJ). The tensile and creep behavior of each laminated composite was studied in the same test conditions. A microstructural study was also investigated by SEM-microscopy on the morphology of composite specimens after creep rupture failures at 80% of applied load. The obtained results showed clearly the influence of matrix type used on the tensile and creep behavior of studied composites. Indeed, it was noted that no creep rupture failures were observed in short-term (less than 4 h) for INJ/Carbon composite at tensile creep tests at 80% loads of ultimate tensile strength. At the same ultimate tensile strength, EP50/Carbon composite showed a best creep behavior up to 30 h and had a creep modulus higher than other laminated composites. The observation of rupture facets of all composite samples showed clearly that the rupture will take place in the direction of loading, creating voids at the interface resin/fiber. These are observed based on the nature of the matrix used

Physico-chemical and rheological characterization of water-based mud in the presence of polymers
    (Springer, 2015) Safi, Brahim; Zarouri, S.; Chabane-Chaouache, R.; Saidi, M.; Benmounah, A.
Under the geological conditions of wells and during the drilling operation, some of the water-based mud compositions are sometimes not effective for the drilling success of the oil wells (case of the oil wells in the south Algeria). For this, the aim of this study is to examine the influence of polymer types [carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and polyanionic cellulose (PAC)] on the physico-chemical and rheological properties of water-based drilling muds. A mud samples were prepared with a polymers (PAC or CMC) according to mud formulations currently used in the wells drilling. The properties are controlled at such values that the mud provides optimum performance. For this purpose, the physico-chemical (pH, Pb: mud alkalinity) and rheological (apparent viscosity, yield point, and behavior rheological) were measured out on the studied muds. According to the obtained results, the rheological characteristics of studied muds (yield point and plastic viscosity) were clearly improved in the polymers presence. However, it should be noted that the PAC has given the better results compared to the CMC at a concentration of 8 g/l. By against in the temperature presence (hot rolling), the CMC is a good controller agent of mud filtrate compared to those containing the PAC for the same concentration

Synthèse et caractérisation des tensioactifs nonioniques de type alkylpolyglucoside (APG) à partir du glucose extrait des dattes, et du glucose synthétique
    (2016) Benselma, O.; Haddoum, S.; Ahmed Zaïd, T.; Benmounah, A.
The aim of our work is to study the synthesis of the alkylpolyglucosides from local date (Ghars) sugar extracts and alcohols with a short hydrocarbon chain length. The reaction of glycosidation is performed in a stirred reactor of 1l of capacity at the boiling point of the alcohols. The products of the reaction were qualitatively characterized by current methods of analysis and the results indicate that they can find applications as solubilizing agents considering to the low hydrocarbon chain length of the alcohols used
