Item Direct Drive Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator: Design, Modeling, and Control for Wind Energy Applications(2024) Larabi, Zina; Ghedamsi, Kaci; Aouzellag, DjamalThe prominent trend in wind turbine technology centers on the adoption of direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generators (DD-PMSG), a choice driven by their capacity to deliver superior efficiency through the elimination of gearboxes.This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of the design, modeling, and control aspects of a DD-PMSG intended for harnessing wind energy conversion. Initially, the geometrical design of the generator is meticulously carried out, adhering to predefined technical specifications and constraints. Subsequently, an in-depth internal modeling, focusing on the electromagnetic behavior of the designed generator, is executed using finite element analysis (FEA) through the Ansys Maxwell RMXpert software. Finally, the external modeling and control system integration of the designed generator, connected to the grid through power electronic converters, are simulated using the Matlab/Simulink software suite. The resulting findings underscore the efficacy and viability of the proposed generator for wind turbine applications, affirming its potential to enhance wind energy conversion systemsItem Performance improvement of aircraft pitch angle control using a new reduced order fractionalized PID controller(Wiley, 2022) Idir, Abdelhakim; Bensafia, Yassine; Khettab, Khatir; Canale, LaurentIn this paper, a new optimal reduced order fractionalized PID (ROFPID) controller based on the Harris Hawks Optimization Algorithm (HHOA) is proposed for aircraft pitch angle control. Statistical tests, analysis of the index of performance, and disturbance rejection, as well as transient and frequency responses, were all used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The performance of the proposed HHOA-ROFPID and HHOA-ROFPID controllers with Oustaloup and Matsuda approximations was then compared not only to the PID controller tuned by the original HHO algorithm but also to other controllers tuned by cutting-edge meta-heuristic algorithms such as the atom search optimization algorithm (ASOA), Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA), sine-cosine algorithm (SCA), and Grey wolf optimization algorithm (GOA). Simulation results show that the proposed controller with the Matsuda approximation provides better and more robust performance compared to the proposed controller with the Oustaloup approximation and other existing controllers in terms of percentage overshoot, settling time, rise time, and disturbance rejectionItem Robust Fault Diagnosis of SCARA Industrial Robot Manipulator(2018) Lounici, Yacine; Touati, Youcef; Adjerid, SmailNowadays, robotic systems are being in increasingly demanding in many industrial activities. In order to achieve the maximal performance, complex nonlinear dynamic robotic systems were developed. However, as a consequence, the rate of component malfunctions augments with the complexity of systems. These malfunctions are called faults, which may appear in different parts of the system and can induce changes in the dynamic behaviour. This paper deals with fault diagnosis of a particular kind of industrial robots called selective compliance assembly robot arm (SCARA), where both parameter and measurement uncertainties are taken into account. Residuals and thresholds are generated using the quantitative model-based method. The inverse geometric model is used to find analytical solutions for joints angles and distances given the trajectory of the end effector. The presented geometric model is then used to derive the kinematic model. Using this kinematic model, the robot controller computes the necessary torque applied to each DC servomotor in order to move the robot from the current position to the next desired position. The proposed robust fault diagnosis scheme is then implemented for a SCARA manipulator and simulation results are presented in both normal and faulty situations.Item Evaluation of the efficacy of different acaricides again st Varroa destructor on Apis mellifera intermissa in Algeria(2013) Adjlane, Noureddine; Jamal Haddad, Nizar; El-ouness, TarekVarroa mite has become a major concern of beekeepers in Algeria since the discovery of the first cases of infestation in the year 1982. The objective of this study was to test different registered chemicals aside with those prepared by beekeepers. The experiment was conducted on 50 Apis meliffera intermissa colonies in a commercial apiary and kept in standard Langstroth hives. Among the products which are approved in Algeria and tested in our experiment are Bayvarol which recorded the highest efficiency rate (91.62%), followed by Apivar (86.50%) and then Apistan (77.75%). Traditional preparations treatments had very low efficiency where it was only: 39.37% for amitraz and 44.21% for tau-fluvalinate (Mavrik). Our study showed a reduction in the efficiency of commercial products (Apistan, Bayvarol and Apivar) and a very low efficiency for amitraz and Mavrik. Such results prove the high demand of searching for more effective treatments against VarroaItem Efficacies of Chemical and Biological Products Employed in the Integrated Treatment of Varroa destructor in Algeria(Indian journals, 2018) Habbi-Cherifi, A.; Adjlane, Noureddine; Medjdoub-Bensaad, F.; Haddad, N.The fight against the Varroa destructor has become a major concern for beekeepers around the world in general and in Algeria in particular. Indeed, several related chemicals have been released to the market but the problems of efficiency and development of resistance by this parasite to some of these compounds worry beekeepers. The objective of this study was to test efficacies of several approved chemicals as well as some natural products that are based on thymol and oxalic acid in treatment of Varroa destructor. The experiment was conducted on 60 colonies of Apis meliffera intermissa in the region of Tizi- Ouzou, Algeria. Of the products approved in Algeria and tested in the present study, Bayvarol recorded the highest efficiency (94.69%), followed by Apivar (91.59%) and Apistan (76.92%). Efficiencies of the natural treatments were 93.96% for Apilife Var, 89.32% for Oxuvar, and 90.57% for Apibioxal. Our study showed a very low efficacy of Apistan, which is widely used by beekeepers, in treatment of Varroa destructor.
