Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable and reliable energy sources has led to the emergence of hybrid renewable energy systems as viable alternatives for standalone applications. This report presents a comprehensive study on the design, modeling, control, and simulation of a hybrid renewable energy system using Matlab Sumilink comprising a photovoltaic (PV) array integrated with a battery storage system. A detailed mathematical model is developed to capture the dynamic behavior of the PV array and battery storage system, considering factors such as solar irradiance and battery state of charge. The proposed control strategy ensures optimal operation and seamless transition between PV and battery sources using MATLAB functions. The control algorithm is implemented and validated through simulation studies utilizing advanced software tools, providing a realistic representation of the hybrid system’s performance under various operating conditions.
