Abstract
This project intends to develop a clever version of a surveillance system with more
security, flexibility, and connectivity. This system comprises two main parts detection/alert
and web application. The former facilitates the asset owner to receive an email and SMS
notifications when human intrusion is detected. PIR Sensors are used to detect any motion
caused by any heat-emitting creature. An ordinary webcam is used, along with, an open-
source computer vision software called Open-CV, that confirms the intruder is a person, not
an animal through image processing. The latter, enables the user to view the scene from a
remote location using a web browser upon receiving the alert. In addition, the system offers
the user the ability to capture the images based on his interest, to use them as a piece of
evidence.
