Abstract

Canonical forms provide structures of state equations, which are highly suitable for analysis and design of a control system. This project is concerned with the use of controller canonical forms to design a state feedback controller for an extended medium range air-to-air missile. The objective of this work is to analyze and compare feedback design in terms of gain magnitudes, robustness, time response and effects of similarity transformation using different controller canonical forms and approaches. « General controller canonical form: for each possible general form; determine K. « Block controller canonical form: use of the solvents (right and left solvents). The state feedback design using a general controller canonical form or a block controller canonical form is illustrated through a simulation of a large number of possible state feedback gains, the time response characteristics, individual and overall sensitivities of the eigenvalues and robustness measures are computed. The above results are then compared to select the best controller canonical form that meet the required criteria.
