Abstract

This study contributes to understanding traditional healing practices and explores the phytochemical and biological properties of Inula viscosa L. extracts. It has two main objectives. Firstly, we conducted a comprehensive survey of natural remedies in various towns of Boumerdes Wilaya, focusing on herbalist practices, preparation techniques, and remedy origins to enhance our understanding of traditional healing methods and contribute insights to herbal medicine research. Secondly, our study investigates the phytochemical and biological properties of crude extracts and hydrosols from Inula viscosa L. Our findings highlight significant levels of polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins, as well as potent antioxidant, antimicrobial, and analgesic effects. These results suggest promising avenues for further research in herbal medicine.
