Item Vector and direct torque control of two induction motors fed by a single nine switch inverter(Université M’Hamed BOUGARA de Boumerdes : Institut de génie electrique et electronique (IGEE), 2020) Bouanzoul, Hamza; Gouba, Omar; Kheldoun, Aissa (Supervisor)Over the past few years, there has been increasing interest and activity in the field of power electronics and drives, to satisfy the demand of the industrial area where the need for low cost, compact, integrated and reduced component power converters is critical. Nine-switch inverter (NSI) is a compact dual-output inverter developed to control two AC loads with less switches. Induction motors are very important loads that can be driven independently using nine switch inverters because they are cheap, rugged and require less maintenance, due to these characteristics, they have dominated in the field of electromechanical energy conversion, Nowadays, a large number of induction motors are found in the industry. The nine-switch inverter can serve the role of the dual output inverter that has been used in the past few years for controlling two induction motors, the cost and switching losses can be reduced as the number of switches is reduced from twelve to nine switches only. In this context, two control techniques; indirect rotor field-oriented control and direct torque control, are investigated in this project to study the independency of control of the nine- switch inverter powered motors. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the developed controllers in separating between the flux and torque control will be checked. Simulations of these techniques are then carried out using MATLAB and the obtained results analyzed and discussed to confirm the validity of the proposed techniques.Item Variable frequency drive (VFD)(2019) Ghazi, Abdenour Adel; Hamaili, Lyazid; Metidji, Brahim (Supervisor)A variable frequency drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. Other names of a VFD are variable speed drive, adjustable speed drive, adjustable frequency drive, AC drive, Mi-crodrive, and inverter. One of the most recent variable frequency drive control methods is the Vector control also known as Field oriented control, which can be implemented through direct or indirect approaches. Indirect rotor field-oriented control (IRFOC) is a very popular technique in industries due to its simple designing and structure, in compar-ison to the direct method since it requires flux and torque estimators. In this proposed project IRFOC is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and an implementation is carried out.Item Nine-switch inverter for driving two induction motors independently(2019) Laloui, Mahdi; Rebbouh, Khaled; Metidji, Brahim (Supervisor)Industrial applications require large numbers of motors supply in the industrial world; therefor it is necessary to design system with low cost, reduced losses and higher efficiency. The nine-switch inverter is a recent reduced semiconductor topology which is developed to dual output converter. It can be used to drive two three-phase induction motors independently. As a substitute of two separate voltage source inverters, the nine-switch inverter has been already proposed in various industrial applications to reduce the number of semiconductor switches and energy losses. In this context, a scalar control method is developed to ensure the separate control of both induction motors. Simulations then implementation are carried- out to show that the developed independent control is effective and provides a simple configuration with high performance in terms of speed and torque responses.
